I’m Mark Dunn, a UK-based professional photographer specialising in sports, music and live events, with a particular passion for capturing the moments that tell the story beyond the obvious action.

Although based between Nottingham and Derby in the East Midlands I am able to travel Nationally and Internationally.

My photography takes me from the touchline and boundary rope to athletics tracks, boxing rings and live music venues. I regularly photograph professional football, county cricket, international athletics and other major sporting events, alongside concerts and festivals.

I currently work as a freelance sports photographer, including assignments for Pro Sports Images, and have been commissioned to cover cricket at Trent Bridge and for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. My recent work has included Premier League and EFL football, the Rothesay County Championship, The Hundred, international athletics and women’s cricket.

I’m a member of the Sports Journalists’ Association (SJA) and AIPS – International Sports Press Association, and hold an LRPS distinction from the Royal Photographic Society.

Before becoming a professional photographer, I spent 38 years in the Royal Air Force as an engineer. That background has had a lasting influence on the way I work: preparation, reliability, attention to detail and being able to perform calmly when there’s only one opportunity to get the shot.

But photography for me is about more than technical perfection. It’s about anticipation — watching an event unfold and recognising the fraction of a second that captures the emotion, intensity and atmosphere of the occasion.

Whether I’m photographing a decisive moment in a football match, a cricketer walking back to the pavilion, an athlete celebrating on the track or a musician under the stage lights, I’m looking for images that make you feel as though you were there.
